Folded Pottery
Pottery is often made “in the round’. Starting with a cylinder, the form is altered by pushing out or coning in while the clay is spinning on the potter’s wheel. Many of my pots start with a flat piece of clay cut into a pattern. The pattern is then folded “up” and into shape without the use of the wheel.
Many have told me these little wonton shapes conjure up ideas and thoughts about paper cut-outs, tinsmithing, origami, and food. Easy to fit in the hand. What will you put in them?
