Folded Pottery
These pieces are made by rolling out flat sheets of porcelain and tossing them until they are thin. The thin slabs are then cut into shapes while lying flat. The flat shapes are then folded into forms.
Most pieces consist of one piece of clay with a few appendages - a band around the opening or handles, for example.
Once dry, the piece is fired to 1950F. After firing, the piece is glazed before going into a second firing at 2200F. The glaze surfaces range from egg shell to satin matt.
I think of these pots as sculptures for domestic life that can be used in closets, pantries, coffee tables, counters, and wherever you live.
